YCR-002 announced!

The Forecast's third full-length is self-titled for a reason: It is the band's best work to date, completely defining their sound and purpose. Fusing together the best parts of mid-'90s emo, turn of the century post-hardcore and elements of both timeless country and pop, the band have delivered what is truly a masterpiece, and one of 2010's best albums.

The Forecast was produced by John Naclerio (Brand New, My Chemical Romance, Bayside) and features guest appearances from Geoff Rickly (Thursday), Andy Jackson (Hot Rod Circuit/Terrible Things), Patrick Carrie (Limbeck), Jonathan Lullo (Down To Earth Approach), Paul Carabello (the Ataris) and Rob Applegate and Kevin Ohls (Greyson).

Hot Topic exclusive details

People have been asking me about this clear/black mix limited to 50 of the new Felix Culpa record, so I thought I'd give everyone a heads up -- the following Hot Topics in Illinois will be stocking this exclusive variant of Sever Your Roots:

Stratford Sq. - Bloomingdale, IL
Harlem Irving Plaza - Chicago, IL
Yorktown Center - Chicago, IL
Gurnee Mills - Gurnee, IL
Cherryvale Mall - Rockford, IL
Cielo Vista - Schaumburg, IL
Hawthorn Mall - Vernon Hills, IL

I've been told these will be available in those stores by the end of next week, so happy hunting!

For those of you not in Illinois, I have held onto a very small amount of the clear/black mixes and will eventually put them in the YCR webstore. I'm not sure exactly how I'll sell them yet; I might increase the price on them and donate the money to Haiti relief or something. Anyway, stay tuned to this blog for more details on how to get one of those.

Also, just to put this out there now: Many of the clear/black mixes look similar to the one posted above, but there are some where LP1 has virtually no black in it at all, so don't be alarmed if you purchase a copy at Hot Topic only to find a clear record. However, all LP2s have the virtually the same black spot/streak as pictured above.

C'mon, be honest: How sexy does that look?

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

The Felix Culpa's album-release show in Chicago last weekend was totally killer -- thanks to everyone who came out and even more thanks to everyone who picked upa copy of Sever Your Roots on vinyl! I ended up having a few copies of the black vinyl (limited to 100) left after the show and after fulfilling all the pre-order package deals, so they're back up in the YCR store. Act fast before they're gone forever!

Also, the pressing info has changed slightly after I got a chance to do a full count and inspection of the whole pressing:

/50 on clear/black mix vinyl (HOT TOPIC EXCLUSIVE)
/108 on black vinyl
/350 on clear vinyl

Those clear/black mixes will be available in Hot Topics in the IL/WI region soon; as soon as I have a solid list of what stores will be carrying them, I'll post it here.
